What is Yoga Therapy?

While most yoga class have general therapeutic benefits, yoga therapy is uniquely catered to your specific health goals and needs. Rather than molding yourself to a prearranged class, each session is built upon a personal assessment of your physical, emotional and psychological needs.

Your yoga therapist selects, adapts and modifies the practices of yoga to create a personalized program to support your optimal health.

Benefits

Yoga therapy can support you in reducing or managing symptoms, improving function, and improve your overall outlook in relation to health conditions such as:

  • asthma

  • scoliosis

  • diabetes

  • depression

  • anxiety

  • insomnia

  • hypertension

  • digestive issues

  • arthritis

  • trauma

  • rehabilitation

  • and much more...

What to Expect

The yoga therapy process begins with an initial consultation, typically 90 mins, which may include an intake questionnaire, assessment of breathing, posture, and range of motion. Your yoga therapist will use a range of techniques based on your needs and preferences including: yoga postures, pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation, somatics, postural alignment, ayurveda, lifestyle consultation and stress management techniques.

The result is a do-it-yourself program (approx 20 mins) that you can practice daily at home. You are welcome to record the session so you can reference it.
